Yes, the question is what do we do with the information that is presented. At this point we can safely say that Trump and most of the people around him and the Republican Party are probably guilty of a lot of crimes. They are also responsible for a lot of simple corruption and pocket stuffing from public funds. But those are now considered ‘normal’ actions for politicians.
Accepting that and failing to do anything about it because, well, there was no huge smoking gun would mark the end. It won’t all go to pieces immediately but the already obvious collapse quickly accelerate. The power of justice or any type of ethics will have disappeared and everyone will know it whether they want to say it or not.
We already have an increasingly ignorant and racist society. People like Trump set the example. Ignorance and functional stupidity are fine if you can steal enough money or get power by any means. No one will look at how you did it. The rules will be simpler and disastrous. No one will consider crimes that are simply ‘process’ crimes. If you win those are a free pass.
