When Junkyard Dogs get Ethics
This is not a good sign for Trump

It seems there is an emergence of hesitancy among a very small number of working members in the Trump Party. I’m not sure exactly how to interpret this ‘distancing’ from the criminally insane person that they have been mindlessly supporting.
In decades past I would have simply assumed that common sense and a general feeling of responsibility and concern for the nation was the motivation. This was the case in the removal of Richard Nixon after his paranoid excursion into crime for personal power. There were lines not to be crossed that were well above such things as politics.
That, of course, is no longer the case. While that argument can be maintained for a majority of the nation’s citizens, whatever their political orientation other than Republican, it has no bearing on the criminalized, fascist, and racist Trump/Republican Party. Something else is at play here.
Hence my suspicion. The last forty years of moral collapse and policy failure that brought the US to this tragic condition has also removed anyone from the party’s ranks with any concept of the future, other than vast personal wealth to be received by some trickle down miracle but, realistically (wink), by corruption. The remaining, core, party members, other than those who haven’t been paying attention for the last forty years, are racist, criminals, or authoritarians, e.g. fascists. The remainder are religious cult members and flat earthers.
Such people inhabit the mental wreckage of the early 20th with major thematic riffs from the 14th century. They do not suddenly become rational. They worship ignorance and hatred with greed as the only recognized virtue. They do not suddenly discover that they are ‘disturbed’ by a criminal, treasonous, and delusional scam artist that they have sworn their lives to support.
And they have not. Trumpistan is still loyal to its mythic caricature of suicidal allegiance and to hell with life on this planet. They are ecstatic with hatred and the prospect of dying in a final battle against the ‘others’ whoever the fuck they are. Well, maybe not dying as they will be saved by Trump providing a permanent Denny’s gift card for life, but everyone else can die.
William Barr has refused to stand up and lie to cover Trump’s latest crime. The earlier ones and all the wild conspiracy nonsense was fine but suddenly he has ethics? Declaring Trump crime free in his fully public, bribery and extortionist call to the president of Ukraine is a moral bridge too far for William Barr? The mind boggles.
Obviously, the Trumpster was taken aback by this refusal. What? You’re my main asshole and you are denying me? Trumpy even had to complain on Twitter, as usual, inadvertently admitting that he had asked for yet another criminal act. The damn impeachment list is going to have to be done as a greatest hits album.
Of course Barr covered his ass by having the Justice Department issue a statement that Trump is pure as driven snow and bribery with extortion is not officially a crime on the days that Trump does it. But the refusal to publicly voice the same message was enough of a stunner to make the national media. What does it mean?
As was historically expected, the publication of serious criminal activity, stupidly admitted to as a second grade style challenge, has brought the rats out to the rat lines. The devastation of the State Department by idiots starting with Trump and followed by Pompeo was a very serious mistake. You don’t pur professional diplomats in ridiculous criminal situations and then let them hang. Trumpy is paying the price and so is Pompeo and the other closeted wingnuts and cult types that rode in along in with Pence.
That may be the cause of this sudden hesitancy to dramatically and publicly throw themselves as human shields on Trumps flacid body at his demand. These guys are beholden to a higher power and, suddenly, it looks as if the Trump snake might not be the best vehicle to reinstate that 14th century, theocratic kingdom of fear they profess to desire.
Trump’s lies and slithering does have some very unfortunate connotations in the Abrahamic mythology to which these folks have sworn allegiance. It is hard to say as they have shown no reluctance or any sense of shame up until now but perhaps the absurdity of their positions is just too hard to swallow.
It could be that the obvious fate of Rudy Giuliani, to whom they were closely tied, being torn to shreds in every high level testimonial has given them pause. Perhaps they didn’t realize that there is really no honor among thieves and the weakest dog in the pack must be sacrificed to ease the humiliation of the lead dog being made insecure.
Rudy, after all, is old and bat shit crazy, so no loss. There is a need for blood on the ground to restore honor and Rudy’s is as good as anyone's for this. He has lawyered up and had his mouth taped shut in recognition of the danger he is facing alone, now. Unfortunately the lawyer count doesn’t help when you’ve been recognized as the first in line for sacrificial goat.
There is also the sudden prominence of the Trump boys, Goober and Dufus, in defense of the old man although there is a question of Dufu’s attention span or even location. Maybe he didn’t get the word yet. That is not encouraging. The extreme attrition in the Trump staff ranks leaving Goober and Dufus as major players with , Don Jr., in the lead has not worked well. Goober managed to get pillaged and burned on Fox, of all places. Even the old man is not offering any defense. When even your criminally insane father wants some distance from you, your definitely screwed.
All of this is ominous for Trump as the House’s public hearing starts next week. The Trump Party’s effort to put their best junkyard dogs on the House committee to cause mayhem with stupidity and displays of, what they claim are, Hillary Clinton’s underwear, was badly damaged by Schiff’s rules of engagement for the hearings.
Devin Nunes is bizarre enough that he may still attempt to destroy whatever he can. The man is a low level pawn of insanity and, conveniently, has no sense of shame. I expect that there will be some early nonsense but it is hard to say the level of insanity that will be attempted.
This thing is in tatters and the real work hasn’t even started yet.
