What Needs to Happen Part 2

As expected, the Trump disaster is becoming explosive. Trump’s mental afflictions do not allow rational thought or any limitations on his impulsivity. With only one day since the US Senate’s abdication of its Constitutional obligations, Trump considers himself vindicated, yet again, and can now take any action he can imagine against his ‘enemies.’ That represents the majority of the US population, as well as the many demons that live in his head.

We have now had the first example of a State of the Union address that consisted of shouting, lies, and irrationalities. The fact of social psychosis was proven by chanting from the furthest gone members of the Republican Congressional group. Executive orders against all have begun with New Yorkers now being denied the Trusted Travelers Program in a Trumpian hissy fit. He’s only getting started and already wild and dangerous.

Even if denied all Democratic support in Congress, he has filled critical positions in the Executive branch with fellow idiots and psychopaths. They will enact whatever they are told to do. There is now no protection.

I’m afraid we will soon see more foreign assassinations and the beginning of domestic disappearances. The regime is scared as they know that their success at destroying law and eliminating any controls will also ramp up the legal repercussions when Trump falls.

They are entirely outside the law now, and that means that they must hold on to power to prevent disaster and countless years in prison. Fear of repercussions is a powerful motivator of escalating crime. We have been watching that for the last three years. The full weight of this disaster is now the responsibility of the US Republican Party. They are responsible for the symbolic release of a dangerous, mentally ill criminal with a limited understanding of the implications of what he does.

Unless the next election can be controlled and guaranteed, the Trump regime cohort knows they will pay. The impeachment has, ironically, highlighted the influential criminal acts outlined in the Mueller Report while revealing the incompetence and blatant criminality of the Ukraine extortion. We now have a thoroughly criminal regime without any redeeming qualities.

The pitiful bleatings of frightened Republicans saying that Trump has learned his lesson on foreign interference is, if nothing else, a clear indicator of that as a lie. They know it is a lie, but what else can they say after allowing the further empowerment of an insane incompetent in the most powerful position on the planet?

The confusing recitation of long-debunked lies by Trump himself has been left on the floor of Congress where they fell. What can be said of awarding the nation’s top civilian medal to a fringe, misogynistic, racist hate jock? It made Trump feel powerful in his pitiful, infantile rage against us all. How embarrassing.

The strength of the economy is a ten-year illustration of the internal economic logic of Obama’s neoliberal restoration. Unfortunately, that was and is critically crippled for the majority of the planet’s population as it is the late capitalist system feeding on itself in a final frenzy. It is the type of ‘success’ that ends civilizations.

The only economic achievement of the Trump cohort is the reduction of growth for the very elite it seeks to enrich. That reduction is the inevitable result of the outrageous tax reduction producing a sugar rush for the super-rich at everyone else’s expense. Real economic growth requires a broad middle class able to buy and gain assets for investment rather than to accrue even more debt. That, with the mindless trade wars stemming from wild threats followed by impulsive abandonment, has successfully cut growth to 2%.

So much for the justifications for the criminal failure and abandonment of law. But, of course, the climate crisis requires that all of this end as soon as possible. The Trump/Republican craziness is a wild and brutal rejection of reality. That never ends well.

We now must decide to remove Trump and all from the seats of power and thus destroy the political and then deal with the economic structure of the US or work only to limit the human collateral damage and let these people destroy the nation’s political and economic structure. Tough call.

Morality, ethics, and compassion require us to act to protect even those who are destroying themselves, but we know the extent of the social psychosis may make that impossible. It is also is morally easier to let the people committed to their destruction to complete that task and then clean up the mess. That is false morality, and all we have now is doing what is correct for life on this planet. But can we do that?

As always, the adult and the conservative view is to side with those who work at repairing the damage. Such a traditional view articulated by the Economist’s current issue giving the hat tip to the repairers in the Democratic primaries versus the transformers. But that requires ignoring the full extent of the climate crisis and the accelerating indicators that threaten us with significant future loss and suffering. Yes, a very tough call.

My concern is that the die has been cast at all levels of this game, and we have few real options. The odds are that the condition will worsen quickly and dramatically, but for the US, there is no longer the will to act beyond hoping that the bullets miss us and hit others. The odds are that it will hold. A few thousand killed or disappeared is a tiny fraction, while the actual toll will not come due for another twenty or thirty years.

When the 2020 election is canceled, and Trump has declared himself president for life, people will say, well, how much worse can it get? As long as you are white and accept what is happening, maybe those other people should have left when they had the chance.

At that point, all bets are off, and we will ride this thing down to the ground in flames. The regrets will be bitter. Why didn’t we take control?

The greatest irony will be the US becoming the USSR in its final agony. We need to realize and face this to have any hope of national survival. Perhaps it is too late to save the US of A, but we should consider that carefully and decide it rather than let all happen to us as bystanders.
