We have been moving steadily toward reintegration of spiritual issues in the extension of our scientific understanding of our universe. The tension, often conflict, between the concepts of ‘spiritual’ (metaphysical) and ‘scientific’ (physical) is a legacy of the Cartesian break that allowed room for science to evolve as the principle means of understanding reality. It feels ironic to us, after several hundred years of this, to have science discover that there is no distinction between physical and metaphysical.
Because of this physical knowledge can extend legitimately to spiritual knowledge but, at the same time, metaphysical knowledge must adhere to universal empirical laws of the universe. But with conservation of mass and energy and greater knowledge of the evolution of this universe underpinned by the emerging rules of quantum mechanical potential we are physically stardust and an emerging idea that creates reality. We change forms at the macro level but are never ‘forgotten’ by the universal mind that we bring into existence.
To me this is great emotional comfort.
