Watching the time bomb
by Mike Meyer
What is going to happen to Trump? This is certainly scary but it’s kind of interesting to see where this thing is going. There is a lot out there on Fear by Woodward that, for all the noise about it, would seem to be the first time that someone in the Trump White House said, hey, this dude is batshit crazy. That followed by the anon source in the New York Times saying something along the same lines while patting themselves on the back for saving the nation. I, personally, think that is batshit crazy. Do we have two batshit crazies now?
Of course all of this has been known since well before the ill fated election of 2016. The dude has been going downhill for years and he wasn’t that far up the hill when he started.
So none of this is new but that doesn’t matter in these things. The American media requires a new terror or outrage everyday and Trump has been providing those at a rate of two or three a week to boost the viewer count. He has done a good job of augmenting natural disasters, wars, and mass killings.
Up until this week it was the self fulfilling policy of Teflon Don, who, despite things like announcing that he is about the smartest person who has ever lived, was dancing along and untouchable. It made no difference that he was obviously incompetent and deranged. What has changed?
Could it be his becoming an official unindicted coconspirator? This is no longer simply assumptions based on massive public evidence, independent of whatever Mueller has amassed, but an actual case of court determined guilt in an official court of US law. For whatever that is worth anymore. Last month that was still dismissible but something has changed now. Interesting.
The ‘Trump is incompetent and crazy’ vehicle couldn’t get any traction for nearly three years although there was no doubt of that as valid statement but suddenly there is a mad rush to get on the ‘Crazy, Dangerous Donald Train’ this week. Those kind of changes, when they happen, tend to gain momentum very quickly.
Don’t quote me but I think I just saw a news item about Melania calling for Anon to come forth, state their name, and . . . what? Accept accolades from a thankful nation? Confirm and stand behind the accusations? This thing is so messed up that it is hard to say who is motivated by what anymore. I will say that I do expect a divorce filing within hours of the Donald being frog marched out of the White House.
Nixon was defended to the end and then one day the Republicans turned on him. Of course back then there were still Republicans who might be considered to be human beings. I’m not sure what they are now but I’m still willing to bet that they are about to turn on the old Donald.
I really want to watch scum like Mitch McConnell and Devin Nunes giving Donald the thumbs down. It would be even more fun if they would follow the honorable Roman analogy and then fall on their own swords. But if that didn’t happen after Nixon it sure as hell isn’t going to happen now.
But the interesting question remains, what changed? And has it changed enough that the old Donald is done?
There are forces in play now that haven’t been there before but I really don’t think they are good forces. I don’t think anything ‘good’ is allowed within ten miles of the White House now so the most we can hope for is some accidentally positive thing to come out of many bad things coming together.
It has been suggested that Pence is the guy doing this. That, my friends, is some scary shit. He has obviously been struggling to think down an erection since he has been in the VP job. The man looks like he has a corn cob up his ass, as my father would have said. Why anyone would get in that situation voluntarily I don’t know but Pence sure looks it. But that would definitely kill an erection while he is walking around with Trump. People might get the wrong idea if Pence had a lump in his pants when he looked at Trump and it would be hard to explain that it is about Trump being frog marched out so Pence could replace him. No, no, better the corn cob than that.
I guess we just have to wait and see what blows first. At some point Trump is gong to remember his twitter feed. That’s not a good thought.
