Trump Couldn’t Resist
He swallowed it hook, line, and sinker
It is very difficult to see this other than what it is, a payoff to Trump. Fill his pockets and anything is negotiable. I suspect that Xi knew this deal would be too hard for Trump to resist so they baited a hook. The whole planet watched Trump reeled in and he is now flopping on the floor of the Chinese fishing boat.
I wonder at the blatancy. This looks as if it could be literally handing Trump a rope to hang himself. The man is a fool powerless against greed and his own infinite glory. It will be fun to watch this play out.
What are the options?
Does the US simply turn a blind eye as has happened since January 2017? The credibility of this country is in tatters with a criminal and a fool in charge. No effort has been made to remove Trump based on public breach of constitutional law. Why start now? Neither the constitution nor law applies to Trump. He can do whatever he wants and the Republican congress simply grovels at his feet.
In this instance China rules. They have shown the world how to lead Trump around by his nose. He will do anything for Chinese money in order to get out from under the Russian oligarchs who funded his life style on their terms. This is why full financial disclosure is essential for anyone in high postion. Trump is being blackmailed by the Chinese who undoubtedly know who owns in him Moscow. There will be no sanctions against China in exchange for some token gesture. Trump started this and now we will all pay.
The other option would be immediate removal of Trump and Pence that would block the Chinese win. Real economic trade negotiation could begin based on China as the emerging most powerful nation on the planet with America on decline. A careful economic alliance could create a healthier world economy with some limits on China’s tendency to cheat on trade and protection for America’s distorted economy.
