Trump, Becoming Crispy Around the Edges
by Mike Meyer ~ Honolulu ~ January 16, 2020
Is Trump toast? This means ‘is’ and not ‘should be’ as a majority of the US, and much of the rest of the planet, has known since late 2015 that Trump should be toast, but the arrival of that condition has been depressingly slow.
We all know the frustration of watching an incompetent and mentally dysfunctional scum bag destroying the office of the president of the US as a form of his psychosis spread through Congress and the country. We’ve all come to accept that there is no justice, and none of us may survive its disappearance.
The assumption has always been that lying, stealing, and cheating your way into life as a third rate reality TV personality should be worthless in fostering survival in the Oval Office. Surprise! It didn’t seem to matter.
The entire federal structure is so far gone that brain death in both the Executive and Legislative branches was not a hindrance. Between the increasingly criminal and psychotic Republican Senators, Aleksandr Putin with his GRU, a stunning range of low-quality accomplices, and the desperate efforts of the media to present Trump as not bat shit crazy, the whole thing has continued to trundle on for three years.
Disaster after disaster happening and foreheads smacked only to be replaced by yet another week after week, sometimes day after day with even worse debacles. Nothing mattered, and the incredible inertia of the social pretense of normalcy carried this process of disintegration on with no end in sight.
Even the Ukraine extortion scheme, revealed by hoodlums entirely unable to hide clear criminal intent, not to mention confessions of the two-legged hand grenade known as Rudy Giuliani, was probably not going to bring this thing down. The Republican Senate announced total disregard for law and the Constitution to ensure that there was no hope and crime must succeed. Why would anyone question this?
While Trump and associate’s stunning ignorance and total incompetence seemed blessed with immunity, the massive piles of evidence continued to mount once the House Democrats decided that, even, they could no longer bear the shame of weakly bleating helplessness. The real shame is the massive embarrassment of evidence. It’s becoming impossible to sort through the felonies, let alone the old fashioned improprieties that would have once ended a political career.
It would appear that even the cooperation of the US media finally proved inadequate in the face of international journalists attending Trump rallies and news conferences. The horror at the sight of a deranged and thoroughly addled Trump started to get through to the locked and guarded minds of the American media. Maybe there is a national limit to criminal acts and bug fuck craziness.
The apparent chatty communications of Rudy Giuliani’s assistant, Lev Parnas, working up to a threat of assassination to remove our ambassador to Ukraine, appears to have finally gone over the line. Combined with the confirmation that Trump was entirely on board makes this hard to ignore. We can be sure that Moscow Mitch will insist on making an effort. What does he have to lose?
With John Roberts presiding over Trump’s impeachment trial, there could not have been a worse time for this to drop. Can Moscow Mitch brazen this through as if nothing has happened? He will try, but there are a limit and death threats against our ambassador to further an international extortion attempt for Trump’s benefit is a considerable turd to swallow.
We’ll see if the Republican folks can manage it.
