Trump and the Monkey Riot
by Mike Meyer ~ Honolulu ~ January 28, 2020
Trump and his cadre of low IQ stooges are acting like crazed monkeys. They are torn between screeching attacks on all around them and hiding in a closet. It would help if they all hid for a week or so, but that, of course, would not produce want the want. It would provide the end, but that is what they are desperately trying to avoid.
Amazingly, any group of people could succeed in making the leadership of the US Democratic Party looks like reasonable humans. Timidity and general incompetence of the old guard are normal for that party with their abilities to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, barring the revitalizing force of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the new guard. But after watching the frightening disintegration of, what was, the Republican Party into crime and vicious idiocy pandering to a mental basket case, the Democratic Party looks almost normal.
Despite the media’s misguided efforts to have their cake and eat it too, there is no neutral, both sides now, position in this period of terminal insanity. People are either bug fuck crazy or brutally and depressingly sane. There is no middle ground.
As I’ve said before, a significant problem for the American audience is the slow, doomed march of this last episode in Ameria’s decline. My god, please die already. Whenever I see Trump or any of his gang, I hear the mournful sound of the Volga Boatmen pulling the royal barge to the graveyard.
We’ve now lost a truly laudable person, and his beautiful daughter in a tragic helicopter accident while people with no redeeming social value screech and smash anyone, including whole populations, that they can while hoping to distract and confuse everyone. How sad and tiring.
This long debacle, we should know by now, is not going to end well so we can clean up and go home. This is a slow death, but what is dying is not the people but the idea that explains and unites those people. That idea was very robust, so it is taking a long time to kill it, and the killing is ugly.
We are at the stage of having to face that death and what will come after, and it will be nothing like what we had before. We are at the point that we must accept our responsibility for the death of America. Even if we did not want this, we couldn’t be troubled to stop it from happening.
So now we have to see it through to the end and live with what follows. We know more than we want about that as it will be accelerating climate disasters and, another, long slow process with no clear end. With luck, we will halt the temperature increases before the worst and figure out how to live sustainably on our only planet. But we know that it will take fifty or more years to achieve change. That’s a long time.
Our time scales are going to change out of necessity, but we haven’t gotten there yet. Meanwhile, we have to deal with people like John Bolton. The only thing that we can say about him is that he is consistent and professional in his evil.
He is positioning himself as a savior of the nation by being able to take down Trump and the monkey riot. While he is still a retrograde neoconservative dedicated to imperial America, he is the tool we have. You take your soldiers and occasional heroes where you can find them and with a grain of salt. Ok, a large shovel of salt.
It is another dose of pure irony that one of the very people that have spent the last thirty or forty years destroying what America once was. At the same time, incidentally, brutalizing the planet, is the best weapon we have against Trump and his monkey riot.
Perhaps it is best that what these people have allowed happening is finished by one of them. But there is no honor among thieves. We need to be sure not to mistake these people with rational human beings.
And we need to find a way to stop these kinds of people from the power of any kind. That is a tall order while maintaining something like the ideals of the American Experiment, but the reality is not forgiving.
