This really comes down to responsibility for our place on this planet. Most people understand that we have screwed up by ignoring the state of our environment and BLM has finally shown us that accepting our privileged status is both immoral and unsustainable. We others the opportunity right to have the same things we do. We can only survive by rediscovering the benefits of sharing.

The political system we have is badly broken but, you are correct, it didn’t get there all by itself. We didn’t pay attention and looked the other way when assholes finagled their way to power and continued to look the other way when they stole things from people they demeaned.

You can very logically say that the US system cannot survive and electing yet another aging white politician is not what we really need but we must get beyond that. When the water is coming over the deck, the color of the lifeboat available is not the most important issue. It might start sinking, too, but it will by us time to get to something better. Ignoring this will be amazing in its brutal consequences.
