This problem is one I’ve been dealing with for twenty years but it is far more serious now. Back then the credentials still worked, at least for the white folks with privileges so there was no real reason to change. Now it is failing for everyone but attitudes have been locked in by years of satisfying just enough of the people to pretend it is all OK.

No one is willing to face reality. The answer is, “It will all be ok when the economy goes bad again and everyone will come back to get their degrees and certificates. Its the normal cycle . .”

I’m afraid in thirty years we will be able to find long dead and dried up college administrators in the abandoned campus offices with large stacks of degree folders moldering in the ruins.
