This is interesting as there are very few people willing to come out and try to claim that Trump is doing anything but satisfying his narcissistic needs. The structural problems of capitalism are well understood. Piketty does the best job of defining the late stage failure of capitalism.
Democratic Socialism is the best current form of a hybrid political system as it has worked consistently. Fully authoritarian government system, as Trump and his Russian manipulators are attempting to achieve are arbitrary and usually destructive. Any state is subject to the problems of massive corruption as Trump illustrates. And nay state can be destroyed by international actions such as Venezuela. That cannot be confused with structural problems such as those of late stage predatory capitalism.
Corruption is always a disease and must be removed. The massive asset problems inherent to capitalism steadily erode well being. There is no means by which a broken system can correct its own structural errors. The tiny elite that benefits from controlling that system will never allow it until they are prevented from controlling it.
The old paradigm is failing rapidly but we need to work out the elements of the new. Obviously doing the same things and expecting different results is not an indication of mental health.
