This is an laudable attempt at old style journalism and that is a compliment. I find it disturbing at a very basic level that an obviously fringe religious wingnut is allowed to slide through by granting him legitimacy of his dangerously irrational opinions. Adolph Hitler firmly believed in his true calling and right to destroy as many people as possible. I see Pence as low level proto Hitler. This was suggested in the text at the end but it is dangerous in journalism to simply take the testimony of people sharing the same minority position of someone who has become a major political figure, clearly, by accident.

Pence’s position in Indiana was to be mocked and hated by a majority of the population. And that in a state very close to assuming everyone is christian and a deep reluctance to admit that most aren’t. In that since this attempt at journalism falls dangerously short. Psychopaths are able to make people like them. Pence’s ability to pander to an obvious incompetent criminal for his own opportunity suggests more than an element of that.
