This is an excellent summation of the history of fascism in America in its long rise to ascendency. By refusing to recognize and name the specific capitalist authoritarian form of American fascism we are denied a means of identifying and understanding it. We can’t even discuss it without being buried in the baggage of decades of misinformation and denial.
I think 2014 is as good as it can be identified for the peak of America. The decline of life expectancy, the consolidation of wealth in the hands of a few, and the destruction of truth to lock the control of power will be the tragic end of the Amerian century.
Few people realize the momentum of modern, large economies that require decades to collapse, short of massive natural disasters or major wars. Growing corruption inherent in the fascist crony capitalism spread as cancer but can be ignored by the majority until collapse becomes obvious in human death and suffering. Unfortunately hiding the collapse requires violent acts to distract the population and that usually triggers a violent failure but may not.
In our situation, the climate crisis will be the trigger and the collapse could be far larger than just the US.
