This is a well written article from Africa. I, too, appreciate your attempt to sort things out from a distance. The divide here is one version of a very large paradigmatic shift in post-industrial societies. That is what makes this so confusing. And from that perspective Clinton felt wrong as she thoroughly represented the militarized origins of the old neoliberal economics that was absolute for both US parties and the world leadership. Trump was presented as something new to distract the general population while the old elite held on. Many people claim to find this humorous and it is. Watching a fool stumbling on the edge of disaster is the original humor. It’s also dangerous and has already blownup as Trump couldn’t maintain the facade. Trying to manipulate a fool is never a good idea.

But keep at it. All of us struggling to understand the deeper changes can appreciate new voices from a planetary perspective.
