This is an amazingly rare viewpoint but totally accurate. One of the great failings of this form of government (as we watch it collapse) is the inability to force change on a massively powerful and authoritarian system. This needs total redesign or the US as a nation state will not survive.
The executive, in its present form could be maintained if that person were permanently facing the potential of a full vote of no confidence and removal from office. I’m being somewhat facetious as I don’t think that this system is salvageable.
The historical need for a strong executive is the result of imperialist aggression and the resultant threat of military retaliation. And if your entire economic structure is based on planetary exploitation with military support a powerful military commander is essential. In a different world, such as we are now entering, that requires sustainability for survival this is not only not needed but a direct threat to the entire population of the planet.
