The philosopher king is a base line problem. Stress, incompetence and collapse triggers the Great Leader syndrome that always fails. King Arthur is a later western version while earlier versions were gods or savior/gods.

The number of philosopher kings is very small and they tend be very specialized and localized. There are great leaders but they know their limits and they refuse to satisfy the demand.

Usually the person who plays for that is a psychopath of one form or another. This lie goes with the lie of exceptionalism that denies admission of failure. We are in the final collapse of that two part disaster.
