Thank you, Farida, for a great response. There is not much I can say except that we risk losing our grasp of people as multidimensional beings when ignorance, bigotry, and hatred become normalized standards. People are often not nearly as evil as we want them to be just to keep things simple.
That’s the real evil. Not the people themselves but allowing exploitive generalizations based in willful ignorance to be accepted as valid options. This what is used to attract people who are only guilty of unquestioned hypocrisy. When faced with it they have virtue, still, to be embarrassed.
We’ve lost the cultural guides that prevent those things from happening. Retraining in those standards is very difficult because it must be done at the broadest social level and it must be a managed retraining but there is no neutral position.
