Thank you. Having thought about this a bit, speed is not something that we can control without risking disaster. We climbed on a train when we began developing language and civilization and the train has a constant but slow acceleration. Our instinctive fast thinking is purely arithmetic but these things are geometric or even logarithmic. Things pile up on us and we are surprised. And then we discovered the rules that away from this planet it takes as much energy to reverse that speed as it did to achieve it. So slowing down is incredibly expensive and then you stop with no energy to speed up again.

So we really need to keep the wheels on this train. And keep the messes from getting too big . . . Messy people who can’t plan are not just messy but now are incredibly dangerous.
