Thank you, Cameron. This an excellent overview of the criminal take over of the Hawaiian islands. You’ve also carefully outlined the resurgence of Hawaiian culture and the complexity of the sovereignty movement. There are no simplistic ways to move this process toward justice and benefits for the Hawaiian people yet much progress has been made.

I see the danger and disruption increasing around us as an opportunity for the creation of new, more independent city states as the old systems disintegrate. This is the result of pervasive technology, the recognition of diversity as the source of great innovation, and indigenous cultures as a knowledge base for sustainability. These are essential ingredients for the new planetary culture.

The failure of the old European nation states will, I think, open surprising doors for Hawai’i and other indigenous cultures. We never know when opportunity may strike. There is hope in all the frustration, fear, and confusion.
