Thank you, BHD, for your introductory sentences and the link. Yes, exactly. I’ve been stumbling around this as I’ve attempted to find a voice on Medium that maintains clarity while acknowledging the epistemological and the metaphysical. I’ve found myself stating a new morality while denouncing easy addiction to low grade ideologies such as ur-fascism and related apocalyptic cults. But the metaphysical has been degraded in American culture (does that even exist?) to mass religion and endlessly repeated accusations while scientific knowledge is struggling against ignorance as an ideology and radical, materialist empiricism. The Archdruid’s article identified the cause of my discomfort with Neil deGrasse-Tyson very quickly and went on to an excellent summary of our lost intellectual history. But we have the problem of the seven minute read in Medium and much less anywhere else. I take that as part of the transformation we are now lost in the midst of in defining a new social, economic, cultural and intellectual order that is struggling to emerge around us. But now I have a new perspective.
