Thank you. I’ve been struggling with this for exactly the points that you make. We do not a level of authority to manage the need that we have. I’ve become more and more afraid that this is the failing that will doom us. Put simply, we are not able to martial a large enough population that is willing to change their thinking to accomplish what must be done. There is a surprisingly large population but the gap that has evolved and is evolving between the respective universes leaves far too many on the side of ignorance, willful or inadvertent. The critical failure is to have allowed the, for lack of a better word, ignorant to broadly gain positions of authority.
My second concern in writing this finally was to avoid being condescending. We have rightfully struggled for several hundred years to be make equality the basis for all public discussions. This now needs to change to some extent based on the ability of adapting to a new paradigmatic universe. In prior such events there was time for the long transition, e.g. Heliocentric to Scientific Revolution to Enlightenment covering some 300 years. We have only ten years if we have even that.
We can no longer afford to allow people unable or unwilling to work on the basis of the latest scientific data to be in positions of authority. I can’t see how we can avoid stating a minimum level of education and scientific understanding for any public executive (at least) position. This is not a choice but critical to our species survival. We have no way of handling this at all.
