Beating the bones of long dead arguments doesn't help, but understanding the evil of those that do keeps us moving toward the future. Things are both more manageable now and harder to avoid distraction from the noise of governmental collapse.
We have all become exhausted with the final destruction of the US over the last three years and the resulting constant insanity, but we need to stay focused on the future.
Ironically the great pandemic has given us hope that seemed beyond reach by revealing Trump and the faux fascists, as the complete idiots the majority of us have always known. But nothing is simple now, and we are still in the early innings of the pandemic and the first decades of the climate crisis while watching the US become a failed state.
I try to focus on the future now, as it is becoming steadily more visible as the old cultures die. Still, it is necessary to identify the idiocy that is luring people into fascist death cults. Sadly, that death is genuine now and no longer a lurking potential in our future. Amazing how things have changed in three short months.
The only remaining question is how long the Trump regime can last and how violently it will die. Despite the wild hints of blocking the election and the increasingly crude voter suppression campaigns, it is tough to take Trump’s stooges and the political opportunists behind him as real threats.
This is the guy who thinks injecting bleach is a viable medical treatment.
In the election, his and his cohort’s only hope is another electoral college manipulation in the swing states. But Trump’s only strategy is to bully and insult anyone who refuses to believe his bullshit.
Now that he is no longer welcome in Michigan and has tipped the senate race in Arizona and has driven his lapdog governors in the old confederacy to kill off his base, the end is near. Trump’s psychopathy allows him, at this stage, no other options.
But this is not all. Trump is dumb as a stump. The dysfunctional US media, long gone into a fantasy world where the US has not already lost all prestige to China, admits that Trump is not always lying but is, often, just stupid. While they clutch their jewels in fear of saying that the man is seriously crazy, most people on the planet do not have that problem.
The rapid rise and even faster fall of the new fascists (visible through the thin paint of populist nationalism) is the saga of small-time bullies gaining more power than they can understand.
These are the folks who own the planet’s highest COVID-19 death rates in the US, Russia, and Brazil and are unable to organize anything but their usual cluster fuck. That always wowed their developmentally disabled followers who only wanted to get their piece, but now suckering the usual marks is not enough.
Even the old fall back of blaming someone else isn’t working, and Trump’s shouting and waving his arms at China is becoming dangerous. The Chinses government has its share of ugliness, but the top position on the planet is theirs to lose. Trying to accuse the lead country of doing what you did can backfire when you are stupid and surrounded by ignorant people.
While having the national media as a propaganda arm is helpful, it only works on those who see nothing else. When you are insulting and demanding that those people risk their lives for your gain, a growing percentage will decide they don’t want to stay in the Kool-Aid line.
As we have known since 2016, this is going to get very ugly in the end, but the end came suddenly from left field and is harder than we expected. It is all falling apart, and that includes the old ideas that allow opportunists to try to build their fascist paradise.
Fascists can only count on about forty percent of the population for their brand of lies and conspiracies in times of change and hardship. But their ingrained denial of anyone else’s wellbeing screws their game.
It becomes ever more apparent that the people who play authoritarian fascist games are not interested in anything but their own bullshit even when it is killing them.
