So Much for Post Election Relief
Letting Trump whine was the deal. That worked really well.

Everything was supposed to be clearer and on the road to recovery after the most stressful election in living American memory. Well, most everyone knows the road to recovery was bullshit, but it was a nice thought for the pandemic holidays.
No luck on either guess. Yes, we have a speedy planetary set of COVID-19 vaccines beginning to be given. There is no real hope of wide distribution except at more than token levels until spring. Trump's incompetence will haunt us all for months and years.
But that isn’t the clarifying cure that we needed. The solid Biden Harris election win was supposed to clear the smoke and let us glimpse a better future. But that Rudy Giuliani started farting in public surrounded, unhappily, by fringe freak legal nutcases generating sloppy and pointless cases based on Trump’s narcissistic rage tweets.
We were all supposed to ignore this until Donald worked out his problems with being firmly tossed out of the White House. Ok, we waited. We’re still waiting.
Meanwhile, 60% of the Trump party congress critters and many equally crazy state AGs, signed on to a full coup assault on the US Constitution. The deal was to let Trump rant until he couldn’t rant anymore, and we would all just let it slide. Publicly declaring your own and your state support for the overthrow of a fully confirmed national administration to install a psychopathic dictator for no reason other than spite and greed goes way over the line.
Though heavily corrupted by the Trump party, the federal judiciary realized that they would gain nothing from this and have opted for the law. Who wants to go down in history as a failed traitor by following Donald “The Whinner” Trump and Farting Rudy Giuliani to prison? Obviously not a good career move.
The game is now changed again. Trump and his stooges, pardoned one and all, immediately called out their neo-Nazi thugs to attack people on the street in Washington and other cities. This was what everyone feared.
While most of the population and the federal government, excluding the Trump party nutcases, are staying out of the way of the administrative transition as defined by constitutional law, US elections will never be the same again. Even crippled by years of voter suppression, the federal election process was the last working part of the federal political system.
The consensus is that this tattered legitimacy is now gone and cannot be recovered. Every wannabe warlord running for city dog catcher is filing suites to reverse their loss. So what, they say that I got only ten [10] votes out of fifty thousand. I should have won!
And none of these people will stop. They do not have the intelligence to understand what they are doing other than getting their shareof the loot.
This is an interesting example of hitting the threshold of institutional collapse. Nation-states can ignore a fairly high level of criminal corruption, but the base electoral functions and a majority independent judiciary allow them to survive and periodically repair some of the damage.
Trump and his party have already succeeded in destroying the election process's critical validity by simply throwing shit at it and refusing to refrain from criminal activity. No justification and no reason other than destruction. That they have destroyed any hope of future elections for themselves as well as everyone else does not seem to have dawned on more than a few.
These are the same people who wildly claim electoral fraud with no evidence while happily claiming their victories in the same election. This is an indication of stupidity and wrong so great it is terminal.
Whatever you do, do not read any of the research pieces on the voters in this election. The stories are pitiful, with Trumpists claiming delusion as reality and Biden voters desperately seeking some hope. The latter comes down to Biden is NOT crazy even though he appoints the same people who caused this disaster. Maybe, by accident, he will slow down the killing and the economic collapse. It’s the only hope.
The day of the Electoral College vote, I wish I could say that would end this thing, but it won’t. The disintegration and the slide to violence will only continue. It appears that the normalization of insanity and failure will continue until Trump, by accident, starts something that runs out of control, or the whole thing grinds to a halt in the near future.
The best thing that could happen is the old confederacy secedes again. This time no one would stop them. Texas is threatening to, but that is old talk. If they did, it would be fun to watch Texas break up.
I’m back to seeing a serious divestiture of the US's problem parts as the only route to health. There is too much dead weight, and we need to move very quickly to a working digital socialist democracy to even hope for climate control. Let them go, and they can sort themselves out as refugees in the coming years. There will be a billion of those anyway as it is already too late to avoid.
Metropolitan areas will need to fight to protect themselves from storms and sea-level rise, but we will need to prepare for all the refugees. That is the real challenge. Can we restore our moral standard to share and protect all who come? The luxuries will be gone, but that is not much of a loss, as we’ve learned in the pandemic.
