One of the problems is that the commercial DNA testing is not very accurate. That is painting with a very broad brush. I’ve come to wonder how many Cherokee ancestors have been lost. My family includes a tintype photo of my great grandmother who was Cherokee in the Carolinas but my youngest daughter had a DNA test that showed her as Germanic and Japanese correctly but no indigenous ancestry. Oh well.
