No wonder there are no alien tourists
Breaking the Fermi Paradox may be our only hope
by Mike Meyer
It is no wonder we have no aliens stopping by Earth. The Fermi Paradox seems more likely everyday. What a mess. A patchwork of old fashioned tribal states led by incompetents at the best and orange skinned mental cases at the worst with medieval throwbacks in the middle. No way to guarantee safety.
Our climate is becoming openly dangerous for a range of creatures evolved for the climate range we have. I should say had. It’s going away.
If they are not concerned with out climate, having the ability to travel with their own, the danger of dealing with irrational and primitive creatures not yet evolved to a planetary civilization is a more than adequate reason for an embargo of Planet Earth.
We would be totally unable to guarantee safety to other sentient beings when we have so many irrational people, many of whom are still ruled by mythological creatures, some of whom wear red headgear and howl hatred at an arbitrary selection of their fellow humans. It would be impossible to explain the selection process for attacks as our potential alien tourists with tentacles or insectoid characteristics wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Our hopes for galactic tourism as a means of funding a climate cleanup are not likely to be met. Too bad.
We’re not going to see any galactic visitors until we clean our own house and that includes the members of our species that are committed to ignorance and being despicable.
It doesn’t take much to imagine a basic inter species bill of rights being a requirement for serious commerce and tourism. That would logically need to be based on a planet having its own, planetary bill of rights. For us that’s clearly far beyond the abilities of the folks with the red headgear.
The above mentioned retards can’t understand this, of course, but why in hell do we let them have any say about anything. They are defective and need to be re-educated. In the interest of planetary rights we probably will need to find a place for these people to go where they can hate on each other to their heart’s content. When they get tired of that they could apply to move back to planetary civilization.
That sounds good until you think about the kids. Being sent to the re-education land would either require birth control for the duration of their time there or the removal of children for fostering. That all seems incredibly harsh until you remember that those people do that, if allowed, without a second thought to others they don’t consider human.
Maybe we temporarily remove their ‘human’ designation. They could be identified as sentient but temporarily dangerous for normal social interaction pending education and re-certification as human. That wouldn’t be too harsh as they could live and work but simply not vote, own weapons, or move without official registration, for everyone's safety.
That would have the side benefit of training people in the process of dealing with non-human sentients whether biological, electronic or ‘other’. There may well be xenosentients that we may want to get to know and who may have things to offer but have characteristics that make them non-social at certain times.
Mating urges that require the capture and dismemberment of humanoid types for mate presentation would be an example. Normally they would be very nice but just not during their mating cycles.
Come to think of it we have people like that, too.
It would be useful to know how other planets handle this.
