My apologies but I’m not at all clear on what you are saying. None of this is simple and it must all be looked at from a planetary perspective.
The US has a long history of attempting to implement a concept of individual rights based in the 18th century Enlightenment ideas of natural rights. It was a good try although inherently racist and class based. We are at the end of a 250 years of attacking and removing those principles. There is really very little left except what precedent has been maintained. The complete disregard for law and morals is a defining characteristic of 20th century fascism. So now everything is in question and confusion reigns.
The irony of that is embodied in Obama’s era as the last legitimate president. He believed in the founding principles and also in neoliberal economics although that undercut at from of egalitarianism in everyday society. At least he got some kind of healthcare in place and we are still reaping rewards from his management of the economy based on neoliberal models. The structural problems of capitalism escaped him.
The military empire had to be maintained to protect fossil fuels and resources for infinite growth. Those Frankensteinian mechanisms are now out of control and must be stopped. Obama, I think, actually thought that drone assassinations were the only option to avoid collateral damage and great numbers of civilian dead. That does not excuse any of this.
