It’s far to easy for people to demean basic symbols when we are struggling in a world that has gone through a state change. We need the unity and the first simple statement of refusal. That is in no way an end but an essential beginning. For those of us who write that is the first action. We write to act and to communicate with those few who read what we write. The pin is a nonverbal symbol more basic than words. It is more broadly inclusive. Education starts with a symbolic invitation to support and share ideas. Wear the pin and keep writing.
