Interesting view from the Russian perspective. There are elements of truth here as a balance to the growing US Trump insanity. As I’ve said in other responses, Putin grew up in the old KGB and weakening perceived opponents is as important as building Russian economics.
Russia is a middle ranking state economically and militarily so care must be taken. Trump was too big an asset to ignore when he prostrated himself at Putin’s feet. But Trump is an irrational time bomb leading the planet’s most powerful nation. In human psychology this has produced an intense ‘approach/avoidance’ conflict for Putin and Russia with Trump as a very dangerous but useful fool. What to do?
Weakening America and NATO are old goals and both can only help Russia at this point. Old habits die hard and Putin plays rough, perhaps more now than before with an criminally irrational great power and an unsustainable planetary economy facing transformation or collapse.
Vilifying Russia is not reasonable. Seeing Putin’s Russia or the US as innocent in the information war is equally unreasonable.
