I’m impressed. Much was said here in a few, well chosen words. The critical point is the rising absurdity of the American self image. Maintaining concurrent contradictory attitudes (I cannot use the term cognitive dissonance as it has been absconded with by Trump followers) is a standard human social characteristic. But the rule seems to be that one of the contradictory attitudes needs to be, at least, not morally repugnant. A working dynamic results from that.
The American Experiment is over now as we are frantically searching through our shared attitudes and find that all of them have been corrupted. Even humor in any self deprecating form has died. How do we ever laugh at ourselves again when the quickly terminated top rated television comedy series purported to recover a previous era’s satirical genius who proves to be horribly diseased and intended to maliciously poison us all. Blue collar American comedy was just fed to the satanic mill.
Is nothing sacred? And Trump immediately declares himself the heroic victim even though he wasn’t even on the same planet.
