I think that is is finally being understood that allowing Trump, and the people who are hidden behind him, to continue to flaunt all morals, ethics and laws that were to define this nation is unacceptable. It is a tragedy that the ideals behind these principles have been allowed to remain so poorly implemented, that is a range of crimes in and of itself, but that is nothing to allowing people to sneer at, denounce, and deny everything.
It appears to me that the national stomach has finally turned at the stench from the White House and parts of Congress. Despite the frantic efforts of the culprits enough has been turned over that the nation is now dealing with the stench.
As I’ve said elsewhere, this would happen at some point and it will not be a process of logic and judicial proof. It will be biological and emotional.
The danger is that once the corruption is cleaned out and the smell starts to go away people will assume things are normal and they will stop paying attention. This has always been a symptom of a much, much larger problem. More things will finally become so rotten that they smell.
Often, as we know, starting to clean things up reveals more and worse messes. And when you see the rot starting in the foundation you might as well replace it now because you can’t pretend it isn’t there.
We will see if that happens.
