Hilary Clinton is one of the most capable and competent candidates in the last fifty years. She will make a strong and capable president and I think that is now a given. The political problem is that she is a conservative and we need a true progressive. Amazingly we have a progressive (socialist) candidate who has already been defeated by a true conservative (liberal) candidate and that is what has people upset. We don’t know how to deal with two real candidates holding actual, legitimate political positions that are mainstream in global standards. But they are competing in the same party in the barely legitimate US primary cycle. This is the systemic but larger problem that has no logical means of closure. We live in a caricature of a two party system and one party has collapsed. Because this is emotionally unresolvable it could cause the whole system to collapse allowing a fascist clown to gain control. In this situation many people can only see completion in a full system collapse. I don’t think this will happen but it is a highly ironic potential disaster because the system literally has failed so that neither of the two legitimate candidates can be satisfactorily selected leaving the political question unresolved. This may be the Hilary Clinton tragedy. . .
