Having read through this rather quickly it is a laudable attempt to build a communication channel. Inevitably that produces both points of commonality and points of compassion. I do sense a very troubled person that seems to be the source of the irrationality.

If we have time we can find similar attitudes in almost anyone. This should work to eliminate knee jerk reactions although that does not hold true for troubled people. While it helps to understand the source of their difficulty it is another level entirely to figure what to do to help them overcome their destructive impulses.
