Good essay on an impossible topic. Well, nearly impossible, but worth the effort. China is very difficult for Westerners to understand as the long dominant civilization on the planet the attitudes toward society and institutional structure have a very different form. I just did an article yesterday on the underlying differences that make the current trade conflict very different than what it is presented to be in the US.
But these are all tentative and moving targets. The one thing that I think is fairly certain is the steady movement to something more like China’s technocracy than America illusion of Liberal freedom and individuality.
The Chinese scifi writers are leading the way. That doesn’t build the future but it certainly suggests elements of what it will contain.
