For many reasons I am on the negative side of that and have been since 2016. But, if this were an actual democratic system, it would not have happened. The fact that this isn’t democratic and there is still no means to prevent this from happening again is an indication of terminal decline.

The majority consider Trump to be a criminal and fool. A minority promised hopeless dreams by an corrupt elite is holding the nation hostage. But it is not the corrupt and incompetent people in power so much as the complete inability of the people to imagine a solution or even be willing to think about it too much that is writing the death certificate.

Watching that play out against a backdrop of massive change that makes most of the existing institutions irrelevant is the set for a ‘deer in the headlights’ denouement.
