And where will their lives be in forty years? Without structural change they will be in shacks clinging to hillsides out of site of the secured communities, if they are lucky. More likely living on refugee rations with three or four billion other refugees surrounded by automated guards who never take a break. That is the safe future that Trump’s supporters see for themselves. And the people who vote for them are not included.

I’m being silly, of course, the population in this future will be considerably smaller. Why feed those who have no value. The worst of the oligarchy and the corrupted political party that represents them have made their choice by accepting Trump as their symbol. They’re letting us know that the future will be ugly and brutal if they have control.

While it is good to see the kids taking action they are still young and naive. They will need to trade the comforts and leisure that they have for years of struggle. We cannot leave that to them as their heritage.

The clean out needs to happen and it can’t wait. The ruling party gained power through corruption of local governments. They have made it plain they have no interest in hearing what the majority wants. They do what they are paid to do. They rely on a minority of aging and deluded voters to give themselves a tissue thin veneer of legitimacy. And they refuse to even meet with their own districts because they will be told the “wrong” things. How does that system correct itself?
