An interesting article and comment thread. Facebook, and all social media, had evolved. I certainly have problems with the failure to curate news on the largest, diverse need form in existence. Perhaps my role in the commercial development of the Web made it easier for me to manage the use of Facebook as an emerging broad base social media. Even in the heat of the national political disaster my fb community was mostly rational and is increasingly sensitive to being prudish on political issues. We ate now all moving, it appears, to reducing politics and emphasizing community posts. But that is a continuing evolution as there are better forums, such as Medium for short essay position statements. And my grandkids are primarily on Instagram and various messaging apps. I would say giving up on fb is radical as opposed to managing it as one bet broad information forum.
