An excellent analysis. As suggested this is not a simple comparison and by no means a simple choice for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for individuals and families to live. We are directly dealing with the reality of exploitation of personal data in the west. When you tie this to the collapsing capitalist system and oligarchic political rule there is very little benefit, let alone trust, for the average American. And this is the point of the Chinese system in comparison and the way they are selling that system.

To compete with that the west must change radically. We have a very clear effort in the EU with the GDPR data security regulations that requires nearly universal compliance. This is, of course, very different than the Chinese approach and may, yet, move in the Chinese direction if that makes sense to the populations affected. It is important to note that the Chinese have much greater trust in their government and are quite happy to say so.

It’s a very fast changing planet and the only thing for sure is that the old ways are no longer viable.
