Allow me to toss in something. . . I started picking up followers about three weeks ago and was mystified. My assumption was bot generated followers as many have no history. Then I started receiving statistic emails explaining that I was now a suggested author in the history tag. Ok. That died down and then started up again last week. Another email informed me I was now suggested in economics. As I normally tag education, technology, change, politics and history but I follow blockchain so, economics secondhand, I guess. You folks have figured it out. New member promotion with suggested authors by subject leads to a rush of followers with no history and not, necessarily, captivated by one’s deathless prose. It would appear that some general tags are a bit thin on authors so if you write things and follow other things you may be pressed into service. It’s good for Medium and that’s fine with me. This is a very interesting platform that seems to be a realm of innovation and sanity in an era of accelerating chaos. . . well, at least until the pooch gets screwed. This could, I suppose, just as well be called an era of accelerated and prolific pooch screwing.
